Ward Family Photos Slideshow August 23, 2009

Last week the entire Ward family descended on Utah and we had a fabulous time.  One of the definite highlights was our family photo shoot with Justin Hackworth Photography.  After you get a glimpse of some of these photos, you’ll definitely see why we highly recommend Justin.  He’s awesome to work with and produces unforgettable photos, no flash required.

On Tuesday, we picked Stephanie up from the airport and drove to downtown Provo to Justin’s studio for the first round of individual/couple pictures.  Then we piled in the car and Justin led us to this industrial park where we took the remainder of our photos.  It was perfect!  Here’s a sampling…

That Took Guts, Miss California April 20, 2009

You may have heard about the ruckus that Miss California, Carrie Prejean, stirred up in the Miss USA pageant this weekend.  When asked by Miss USA judge Perez Hilton about her stance on gay marriage, Prejean replied, “In my country, and in my family, I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.”  Perez Hilton’s response?  “…she gave the worst answer in pageant history.”  Miss California was the first Miss USA contestant to ever be booed during the question-and-answer period.

Though Miss North Carolina, Kristen Dalton, won Miss USA, first runner up Miss California has gotten far more media coverage because her controversial answer.  Even so, Prejean feels like it cost her the crown.

That took guts, Miss California, to stay true to your beliefs and say the unpopular thing in a nationwide competition.  I applaud your courage.

infrared photo shoot April 14, 2009

This weekend, I had the pleasure of participating in a photo shoot with Ethan Killian and Jennel McCoy at Sunset Beach at the Great Salt Lake.   Something that sets these photographers apart from the crowd is their flair for infrared photography which alters the colors of the subjects clothing, hair, eyes, etc.

Here are some of our favorites shots:

What’s in a Name? April 3, 2009

Filed under: fashion — Sarah @ 7:12 pm

nameOkay, girls — I need your help. First, the background story.

When I get chosen as a finalist on America’s Next Top Model (thinking big!), my personal challenge would be to dress modestly when I choose what to wear (ie: outside of photo shoots).  With that in mind, I’ve started scouring the internet in search of the cutest modest clothes around.

One morning this week it came to me.  Why not share these findings with the world?  So, I’ve decided to start a fashion blog and am looking for a hot name.  I really don’t want to be pigeonholed in the name by having “modest” in the title since it’s such a lame word.  There are some fabulous fashion blogs out there with names like “cashmere & cupcakes”, “couture in the city”, “budget chic”, “the fashion spy”, “fashion archives” and more.  I’m thinking fabulous.  Couture.  Trendy.  Unforgettable.

Here’s an incentive.  The winner will get $100 gift certificate from blue bijou.  Contest closes April 9, 2009.

Thanks in advance for your creativity!  Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!  xox

Update: The contest is now closed.  The winning combination is Cable Car Couture – we’ve got you covered.  Visit Cable Car online at http://cablecarcouture.com.

If you’re not familiar with etsy, it’s like ebay for girls, sans auctions.  Etsy embraces all things handmade and allows designers and entrepreneurs market their wares affordably.  So for the discerning fashionista that doesn’t want to show up to a party matching someone else, Etsy is for you!  Today I was browing the handmade clothing section on etsy and encountered some fabulous (and modest!) finds…

I DID It! I applied for America’s Next Top Model March 10, 2009

Thank you for your incredible feedback and support about applying for America’s Next Top Model.  After much deliberation and conversation, I took the leap and applied!

It was an arduous process (story to come) which involved a subzero swimsuit photo shoot, plus filming the video application, plus a 15-page application/contract, not to mention the incredible effort of sending the package with Murphy’s Law and miracles interlaced between.

In the meantime, here are my submission photos. Kudos to the three incredible photographers that helped get these pictures ASAP for the application.

I was SO close to submitting this one instead though, but realized it needed to be a full length swimsuit pic. Oh well, great one for the portfolio

hollywood1Ladies! Would you do me a favor? Tell me, in your closet do you have…

  • long evening gloves
  • fake fur shawl

If so, may I borrow them? There is a lovely little photo shoot happening and this vintage evening theme is in. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Mika from Mikarose has an amazing collection of modest dresses that are cute and fun to wear. She has also generously agreed to lend me the divine Hollywood dress from their current collection for the shoot. Here’s a sneak peak – thanks, Mika!
